Reflexive Food Gathering for Ripple Ripple Rippling at the Architectural Association School of Architecture

An art installation, commissioned by the AA School, in response to Ripple Ripple Rippling, An exhibition by Jingru Cyan Cheng, Chen Zhan and Mengfan Wang. Event copy:

 

"For this event, culinary artist Barney Pau has developed an edible response to Ripple Ripple Rippling which explores his personal interpretation of the project. Barney’s interpretation of the space is one of poignance and reflection; a quietness of something missing, but which was also never really there. These impressions are reflected in his choice of ingredients pertinent to Shigushan village and the installation in Bedford Square; the mindful and timeful processes of fermentation; and the care he has invested into their elaboration.

Throughout this event, Barney will prepare each visitor a bite when they arrive. They will then be invited to take their bite and sit around the dry stone wall house foundation installed on Bedford Square. The intention is to use the food to connect with other people in the space, and with the space itself, to form an intermediate spatial community."
