[dis]tasteful for Reel Yummy, held at Somers Gallery

[dis]tasteful was the presentation of the short film Fortify (2021), and a series of ferments, made to look grotesque and otherworldly. Leaning into the cinematic aesthetic of horror, the installation challenged perceptions of taste and disgust, questioning whether what the ultra-processed foods we eat are in fact more disgusting than what we avoid. Guests at the opening were be served the ferments from the jars as part of this participatory installation.
